Greg Stafford served in the U.S. Navy from 1983 to 2005 retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. He has a BS in History with a Minor in Secondary Education from ECSU in Elizabeth City, N.C. He has served in various leadership positions in the VFW. Post Commander 20011-14, District Commander 2011-15, Long Range Planning Committee 2013-15 and as the Chairman of the Financial Committee for the Department of North Carolina, Veterans of Foreign Wars in 2014/2015. Mr. Stafford is the Past Commander of the Department of North Carolina Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mrs. Stafford is the President of the Veterans Foundation of North Carolina Inc.
Mr. Ken Sellers served in the US Navy as a Medical Corpsman and was stationed with the First Marine Division FMF in Danang, South Viet Nam.Ken received an AB Degree from Wingate University and a BS degree in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has held several positions in sales and sales management over the years. Before retiring, he was Regional Sales Manager for EMPI, a sports medicine and electrotherapy division of DonJoy Orthopedics. Ken has served in various leadership positions in the VFW, from Post 1920 Commander and District 6 Commander to District Trustee. He is now serving at the National level as a member of the Resolutions Committee. Ken is currently serving as Chairman of the Budget Committee for the Department of North CarolinaVeterans of Foreign Wars
Mr. John D. Harris served in the US Navy on active duty from 1971 until 1978.He is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy / Annapolis, with a MD / BS in Engineering and Naval Flight School in Pensacola where he was trained as a Naval Aviator.. In 1976 he received an MBA degree from Central State University in Edmond, OK. He was employed in semiconductor sales until his retirement in 2003. Mr. Harris is the currenly the Vice Chairman of the Avery County Airport Authority. Mr. Harris is the CFO of the Veterans Foundation of North Carolina Inc.
Matt Lyall earned his Bachelors in Chemistry from the University of Virginia in 1998 and went on to earn a Doctorate of Pharmacy from Shenandoah University in 2002. Since then, he has held several positions in the pharmacy field, managing multiple locations in the surrounding states, including, Staff pharmacist, Pharmacy Manager, Pharmacy Supervisor and currently Healthcare Supervisor. Matt has worked for Walgreen’s for 15 years and currently leads multiple stores across NC and SC to ensure clinical and quality standards are upheld, providing a differentiated customer experience.
Joe Caradonna served in the U. S. Navy from 1968-1972, obtaining the level of E-4 Radioman 3rd Class. He was stationed off the coast of Vietnam, 1970-1972. After his discharge, he attended college and achieved his B.S. in Accounting with a minor in Business. After spending 20 years in corporate America, he started his own business. He is currently the President/CEO of J&K Screenprinting and Embroidery Co. Mr. Caradonna is the current District 6 Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of NC.
Clark Hunter served 9 years in the US Air Force, returned to civilian life and began a career in marketing and sales. He has held positions as Marketing Director for Eastman Kodak Company, owner of his own graphics company and manager of a major real estate office for Coldwell Banker. Clark has been active in his community serving on various boards and as executive director of the Business Development Center in Alleghany County, NC. He currently is publisher of the NC VFW magazine, "The Leader" and is a member of the Veterans Foundation. Clark and his wife Dee currently reside in Alleghany County and are very proud of their 4 children and 7 grandchildren.
Sidney Cullen Wright was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. He entered the U.S. Army in 1985 as an enlisted Soldier in the 805th Military Police Company (Combat Support) in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was later commissioned in 1989 as a Military Police Officer through the North Carolina State University ROTC program. Currently He serves as the 200th Military Police Command’s Provost Marshall. Other military assignments include Mobilization Officer at the Headquarters, Department of the Army Operations Center in the Pentagon, and G3 Training Officer at the United States Army Reserve Readiness Command at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Cullen has been mobilized twice for operations in Iraq and twice to the Pentagon/National Capital Region. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from North Carolina State University and a Master’s of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. He is recently retired from the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department. He is currentlyemployed as the National Veteran’s Initiatives Director for Advocate Health Advisors. Cullen and Melissa, his wife have two sons, James and Jacob.
Douglas Marshall was born in Newport News, VA. He received his Bachelor’s degree from James Madison University and his MBA from UNC-Greensboro. Douglas began his career as a programmer specialist with Computer Sciences Corp at Ft Lee, VA. He moved to NC with Hanes Corp as a programmer and business forecast manager. Douglas has worked with Fortune 50 companies and single owner private companies. He and his wife, Karen have lived in Chattanooga, TN, Kansas City, KS, and Los Angeles, CA before settling in Clemmons, NC in 2003. The past 15 years Douglas has worked as an independent advisor assisting individuals in making informed healthcare, life insurance, and financial planning choices. He also works closely with the veteran community assisting them to fully utilize their VA benefits. Douglas and his wife have two children and three grandchildren.
Doug Blevins served in the US Navy as an Electrician Mate 2ND Class Petty Officer. After his discharge, he continued his career in the electrical construction industry. He worked for several large contractors as a Superintendent, Project Manager, and Engineer, before he and his wife founded Electrical Testing Inc. in Atlanta, Ga. IN 1978. Upon his retirement the company was sold and he and his wife returned to the home of their ancestors in NC. He is a member of the North Carolina Veterans Affairs Commission. Mr. Blevins is the Past Commander of the Department of North Carolina, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Executive Director of the Veterans Foundation of North Carolina Inc.
Allen Payne served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps from 1970-1971, assigned to the 4th Infantry, Pleiku South Viet-Nam. After completing his tour, he returned to his home town of Statesville, North Carolina where he currently resides. He has been a member of the VFW since his discharge, serving in various positions for his home post 2031. He was an All-American Post Commander in 1987 and again in 1991. He was also National Aid-De-Camp in 1991. He served as 14th District Commander in 1988 and again from 2012-2016. Mr. Payne served as Surgeon for the Department of North Carolina and is the current Senior Vice Commander of The Veterans of Foreign Wars of North Carolina.
Craig Armstrong served in the United States Marine Corps from 1987 to 1991. He has an Associate’s Degree in Basic Law Enforcement Training from Central Carolina Community College and an Advance Law Enforcement Certificate from North Carolina Training and Standards. Craig has been in law enforcement for over 22 years and is currently a Captain assigned to Criminal Investigations within the Aberdeen Police Department. He is a life time member of Stanley McLeod Post 5631 in Sanford NC. Craig is the past Post House Committee Chairman and has also been the Post Commander from 2014 to present. He also is the District 9 Commander since 2015. Craig is on the Department Long Range Planning Committee and the Department By-Laws Committee. He is married to Tracy Armstrong.na Veterans of Foreign Wars before his election to the office of Sr. Vice Commander. Mr. Armstrong is the present Junior Vice Commander of The Veterans of Foreign Wars of NC.
